Air China Suspending All Flights to North Korea
State run airline Air China is suspending all flights to North Korea effective immediately. This comes as the United States is working with partners to further isolate Pyongyang. The Trump Administration added North Korea to the list of state sponsors of terrorism this morning, and new treasury department sanctions against foreign banks doing business with North Korea are expected soon.
Air China cited lack of demand as the reason for suspending the flights. North Korea’s Air Koryo is now the only airline flying passengers in and out of the country. Air Koryo is still flying to Beijing, Shanghai, Shenyang, Dandong, and Vladivostok. The U.S. already banned Americans from traveling to North Korea on September 1, 2017.
