American Airlines is Improving Main Cabin Extra Amenities
American Airlines is making several enhancements to its Main Cabin Extra experience. Main Cabin Extra is what the airline calls its extra legroom seats.
First off, Main Cabin Extra passengers will have assigned overhead bin space. The bins will be marked as reserved for Main Cabin Extra. American will begin installing the signage on February 1, 2018. However, flight attendants won’t actually be monitoring the bins. I’m not sure how effective they will be if passengers choose to ignore them.
American plans to install similar signage on bin space in domestic First Class, international Business Class, and international First Class. I don’t see much point in this since flight attendants are supposed to be monitoring bins in these cabins to make sure they’re only used by appropriate passengers.
Main Cabin Extra passengers will also receive complimentary beer, wine, and spirits starting this Spring. And finally, American is planning on extending priority boarding benefits to MCE passengers. Their boarding priority will likely be after First Class and American elites and before general Economy passengers.
