Barclays Arrival Premier Partners with Aeoroplan (Horrible Transfer Ratio)

Article By:

Barclays introduced the Barclays Arrival Premier back in April. The card comes with no sign-up bonus, it earns 2x miles per $1 on all spending (with opportunities to earn bonus miles based on various spending thresholds), it has a $150 annual fee, and miles can be redeemed for statement credits or they can be transferred to airline partners.

Barclays partnered with nine airline transfer partners at launch. Japan Airlines at a 1.7:1 transfer ratio, and Air France/KLM, Qantas, Malaysia Airlines, Aeromexico, China Eastern, EVA Air, Etihad, and Jet Privilege at a 1.4:1 transfer ratio. Barclays just added Aeropolan as its tenth transfer partner. Cardholders can transfer miles at a 1.7:1 ratio.

It’s always good to see banks adding more flexibility to their credit cards, but that transfer ratio is just awful. You can transfer from American Express to Aeroplan 1:1 and several Amex cards earn more than 2x on a wide variety of spending categories.
