Book American Business Class for Economy Prices Boston-LAX
American Airlines currently offers Economy, Economy with extra legroom (Main Cabin Extra), and Domestic First Class seats on flights from Boston (BOS)-Los Angeles (LAX). The airline is temporarily adding an A321T aircraft to this route which offers Economy, Main Cabin Extra, Business Class, and First Class seating. Best of all, they’re pricing those Business Class seats the same as Main Cabin Extra seats. This is the same aircraft that American currently operates on the premium New York (JFK)-San Francisco (SFO)/Los Angeles (LAX) routes.
When you book a Main Cabin seat on one of these flights, you can pay the same upcharge to get a Main Cabin Extra seat or a Business Class seat. Those 2-2 seats at the front can turn into 180 degree lie-flat beds, they have tons of legroom, big TVs etc. You’ll still receive the same Economy Class service (food, drinks, FA friendliness), but you’ll get a huge seat for 6 hours! Oh, and if you have American Airlines Elite Status, remember that you can book Main Cabin Extra seats for free (which in this case lets you choose a Business Class seat for free).
The A321T is flying this route once a day between December 17, 2017-January 5, 2018. Flight AA333 from Boston-LAX 10:45AM-2:29PM and flight AA1360 from LAX-Boston 3:39PM-11:57PM.
The only downside here is that American Airlines flights between Boston and Los Angeles are pricing extremely high ever this period. The cheapest one-way Economy fare I found for this flight was $1,073 which is nuts considering other airlines are selling nonstop flights for a fraction of that price. That said, I’d recommend checking back on this route over the coming days. They just uploaded this into the system today and I suspect they’ll adjust the price downwards.
JetBlue Mint is another great option to fly this route if you want a lie-flat seat. They’re currently the only other airline offering this between Boston-LAX.
