Book Tickets on Delta’s Final 747 Flight and Farewell Hanger Party with SkyMiles

Article By:

After United retired its last Boeing 747 a few weeks ago, Delta remains the only U.S. airline still operating the Queen of the Skies. Delta announced back in 2014 that it would retire the 747 by the end of 2017, and we finally have an official timeline.

Delta’s final commercial 747 flight departing the U.S. will be flight 159 from Detroit-Seoul at 12:31 PM on December 15, 2017. The last commerical flight ever is flight 159 from Seoul-Detroit at 11:15 AM on December 17, 2017. The airline will then take the 747 on a final employee farewell tour from Detroit to Seattle on December 18, from Seattle to Atlanta on December 19, and from Atlanta to Minneapolis on December 20.

Delta is opening up a handful of seats on these flights along with tours of the airline’s hangers to the general public. You can bid SkyMiles to book one of these experiences. Hanger tours are currently going for around 30,000 miles while bids for the final 747 flights starting around 120,000 miles.

The 747 farewell tour flight and hanger party packages includes two Delta One seats and two tickets to participate in a Delta-hosted farewell tour hanger party. The auctions close at 11:00 PM EST on December 1, 2017. All participants must be 21+ and the offer is fully transferable upon notifying Delta. Note that transportation to and from the flight city is not included in the package.
