Cathay Pacific Adding Gogo Wi-Fi to Entire Wide-Body Fleet
Hong Kong based Cathay Pacific will be installing Wi-Fi across its entire wide-body fleet beginning mid-2018. The airline is specifically adding Wi-Fi to its Boeing 777 and A330 aircraft. Customers flying on its A350-900 can already enjoy Wi-Fi at 35,000 feet. Cathay’s Chief Customer and Commercial Officer said:
“We envisage that by 2020, all of our wide-body aircraft will have inflight connectivity capabilities. This will open up a wealth of opportunities for us to provide more innovative experiences for our customers.”
Cathay Pacific chose Gogo 2Ku satellite-broadband as their Wi-Fi provider. This is significant as Gogo 2Ku is one of the fastest in-air broadband providers right now. The airline is installing Wi-Fi on both Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon aircraft and the process will be completed by 2020. This should make their 10 across seating in Economy slightly more bearable.
