Cathay Pacific Credit Card Now Offering 50,000 Bonus Miles
Cathay Pacific introduced its first US credit card back in February of this year. You can find my full review of the credit card and its perks here. The card initially offered a sign-up bonus of 25,000 Asia miles after spending $2,500 in the first 90 days of account opening. Cathay Pacific has just increased its sign-up bonus to 50,000 Asia miles after spending $2,500 in the first 90 days of account opening. The offer is valid through October 31, 2017.
Back when the card was first introduced, I thought it wasn’t really worth applying for it because its miles earning wasn’t particularly compelling. You’ll earn 2X miles per $1 on Cathay Pacific flights and 1.5X miles per $1 on dining. Both of those bonus categories pale in comparison to cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve with offers 3X transferable points per $1 on both those categories. Should you get this card? If you want an easy 50,000 Asia miles then sure, get the card. You can get far more value by redeeming those miles for travel than the $95 annual fee. Other than that, I don’t see much value in holding this card long-term.
