Cathay Pacific Credit Card Now Offering 60,000 Bonus Miles
The Cathay Pacific Visa Signature credit card initially came with a 25,000 mile sign-up bonus. Cathay’s Asia miles can be used for booking free flights on Cathay Pacific or a number of partner airlines. The sign-up bonus was temporarily raised to 50,000 miles for a short period of time in 2017.
The card is now temporarily offering 60,000 miles. You can earn 35,000 bonus miles after spending $2,500 in the first 90 days of account opening, and another 25,000 bonus miles after spending an additional $7,500 in the first 12 months of account opening. The offer is valid through June 30, 2018.
As a reminder, the Cathay Pacific Visa earns 2x Asia miles per $1 on Cathay Pacific purchases, 1.5x miles per $1 on dining around the world, 1.5x miles per $1 on purchases outside the United States, and 1x mile per $1 on all other purchases in the United States.
This isn’t a particularly appealing reward earning structure. For example, the Chase Sapphire Reserve earns 3x Ultimate Rewards points per $1 on all travel and dining purchases. Requiring $10,000 in spending to earn 60,000 airline miles is also very steep.
