Cathay Pacific Launching 17 Hour Nonstop Flight to Washington
The South China Morning Post reports that Cathay Pacific will start nonstop flights between Washington (IAD) and Hong Kong (HKG) sometime in 2018. This would by Cathay Pacific’s longest route, clocking in at just under 17 hours. The new flight, operated by an A350, would cut the travel time between Washington and Hong Kong by two hours since every other airline serving the two cities requires a connection.
Sources expect a formal announcement next week. Cathay Pacific currently flies nonstop from Hong Kong (HKG)- Boston (BOS), New York (JFK), Newark (EWR), Chicago (ORD), San Francisco (SFO), Toronto (YYZ), and Vancouver (YVR).
Cathay Pacific’s A350 consists of 214 Economy Class seats, 28 Premium Economy Class seats, and 38 Business Class seats. Unfortunately there’s no First Class onboard. You can book Cathay Pacific award flights using Alaska miles, American miles, and Asia miles.
