Citi adds Turkish Airlines as 16th Transfer Partner

Article By:

When collecting miles and points, it’s generally best to hoard them in a transferrable and flexible form, and transfer them to your airline of choice only when you’re ready to book an award flight. There’s four main programs in the US that offer this flexibility-Starwood Preferred Guest, Chase Ultimate Rewards, American Express Membership Rewards, and Citi ThankYou. They let you stockpile your points and transfer them to dozens of airline and hotel partners.

Citi ThankYou just made Turkish Airlines its 16th transfer partner! You can transfer points from Citi to Turkish Miles & Smiles at a 1:1 ratio. This makes Citi the first and only US partner able to transfer points to Turkish. As always, remember to find award space through Turkish Airlines before you transfer your points. You don’t want to end up with points stranded in your Turkish Miles & Smiles account.

Turkish has a handful of good redemption options. For example, you can book roundtrip flights from the US to Europe in Business Class for 90,000 miles. It’s relatively painless to book awards on Turkish aircraft through their website, but booking Star Alliance partner awards is much more difficult and not worth the extra hassle, in my humble opinion.
