Delta Adding Fingerprint Biometric Entry to All U.S. Sky Clubs
Biometrics are becoming part of the air travel experience whether we want it or not. Delta began testing facial recognition bag drops this past summer, Lufthansa successfully boarded an A380 in 20 minutes using facial recognition last week, and other airlines are running similar tests. Delta is now adding fingerprint entry to all 50 U.S. Sky Club lounges starting this week.
Delta Sky Club members enrolled in the CLEAR expedited security program are automatically eligible for the new entry method. You’ll no longer need to present a boarding pass or a Sky Club membership card-you just have to scan two fingers.
Delta Sky Club members who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents, but aren’t enrolled in CLEAR, can choose to enroll in Delta Biometrics for free. You’ll have to visit one of the CLEAR enrollment kiosks located in 14 Delta Sky Clubs across the country to register.
This is an entirely optional program, though I suspect it will be popular among very frequent Delta flyers. Are you comfortable using your fingerprints to enter a lounge?
