Delta Enabling Passengers to Pre-Order Meals in 2018
This morning we reported that Delta will improve meal presentation and pillows in Economy Class. We’re happy to report that the airline also plans on allowing passengers to pre-select meals before boarding. Delta will initially roll out the new pre-select option to its Delta One passengers beginning in early 2018. Qualifying flyers on select international flights will be able to select their meal up to six days prior to the flight. Passengers who pre-select their meal are expected to get their first choice. Pre-select will first start in Delta One on the following flights in early 2018:
- Atlanta (ATL)-Amsterdam (AMS), Paris (CDG), Dusseldorf (DUS), Rome (FCO), Frankfurt (FRA), London (LHR), Madrid (MAD), Munich (MUC), and Stuttgart (STR)
- New York (JFK)-Amsterdam (AMS), Brussels (BRU), Paris (CDG), Dublin (DUB), Rome (FCO), Frankfurt (FRA), London (LHR), and Zurich (ZRH)
Delta will later expand the new service to all Delta One international flights, followed by domestic First Class and Premium Select flights by the end of 2018. Passengers eligible for pre-select will receive an email inviting them to choose their meals six days prior to their flight. It’s nice to see Delta adding this option. Many international airlines already offer this service.
