Delta is Introducing Video Chatting with Reservations Team
Delta passengers flying through Ronald Raegan International (DCA) will now be able to video chat with Delta representatives. Five touch screen devices (they appear to be iPad minis) will be available at Delta’s Sky Assist to connect passengers with the agents. Delta specialists on the live video chat can help with things like changing your flight, your seat assignment, booking a new reservation, taking feedback etc.
This is a limited pilot program for the time being. Delta will presumably roll it out nationwide if it’s successful. The airline has been experimenting with innovating ways to implement technology into the flying experience for some time now. For example, Delta began testing facial recognition bag drop in Minneapolis this summer. Today’s announcement makes Delta the first U.S. airline to offer video chatting with reservation specialists.
