Delta Becomes 5th Major Airline to Stop Flying to Venezuela
Last week we reported that Avianca will stop flying to Venezuela on August 16 amid the economic and political turmoil in the Latin American country. News came out over the weekend that Delta will also stop service to the country as of September 17, 2017. Delta has already reduced service to Venezuela and finally decided to stop flying there altogether.
Other major airlines to stop service to Venezuela include Avianca, United, Lufthansa, and Air Canada. The socialist government is refusing to allow foreign countries to take their own money out of the country. It’s estimated that $3.8 billion of airline funds are trapped in the country. This comes as Venezuela’s beleaguered President Maduro claimed victory in what many are calling a rigged election today.
