Donate to California Wildfire Relief and Earn Bonus United Miles
Massive wildfires have been raging in California over the past week. About 217,000 acres of land has burned so far. Fortune estimates that at least 40 people have been killed and over $3 billion in property damage inflicted to the state.
United is offering a way to earn some extra MileagePlus miles when you make a donation to California wildfire relief efforts. The airline is partnering with four charities to raise funds for those affected by the wildfires-Redwood Credit Union’s North Bay Fire Relief Fund, American Red Cross, United Way’s Fire Relief Fund, and Airlink. United is awarding bonus miles as follows:
- Donate $50-$99 and receive 250 MileagePlus miles
- Donate $100-$249 and receive 500 MileagePlus miles
- Donate $250 or more and receive 1,000 MileagePlus miles
It looks like they’ve already raised close to $75,000. Donations must be made between October 18-November 3, 2017 to qualify for bonus miles. Members can earn one bonus per MileagePlus account, and there are a total of 3 million bonus miles available for this promotion. These will be distributed on a first come first served basis. United will also match up to $100,000 in total donations.
