Emirates is Improving Business Class Seats on the 777-200LR
Emirates announced some positive changes coming to its Boeing 777-220LR aircraft. Emirates is investing $150 million to reconfigure its ten 777-200LRs. The aircraft will switch from a three cabin to a two cabin configuration (featuring only Economy and Business Class), and the Business Class cabin will switch from a 2-3-2 layout to a 2-2-2 layout.
Emirates is maintaining the same seat design as its latest generation Business Class on the 777-300ER, but it’s making the seats on the 777-200LR two inches wider. The new Business seats are fully lie-flat, offer 72 inches of pitch, and have 23 inch in-flight-entertainment screens.
The airline is also adding a new “social area’ to the 777-200LR’s Business cabin. This is basically a counter with self-serve snacks and water. While Emirates’ new Business class is certainly an improvement, its disappointing that they’re not making the leap to the 1-2-1 seating configuration offered by many competing airlines.
