Etihad Eliminates Chauffer Rides on Award Tickets
Etihad has been making a lot of cost cuts lately. Travelers can now buy Residence lounge access in New York for $40 and Residence lounge access in Melbourne for $31. The airline also cut chauffeur service for First and Business class passengers except those traveling to or from Abu Dhabi. This came shortly after eliminating chauffeur service for First and Business class passengers booked on partner award tickets.
In today’s round of cost cutting, Etihad announced that all passengers traveling on award tickets will not be eligible for chauffeur service. The new policy goes into effect on April 1, 2018.
I don’t think cutting a private car ride to or from the airport is a huge deal, but it certainly cheapens the premium travel experience a bit. I also hate the idea of offering different service to passengers booked on cash tickets vs award tickets.
