Everything to Know about American Airlines’s Invitation-Only Elite Status: Concierge Key

Article By:

Concierge Key is American Airline’s top level of status. There’s no published way of earning it, but anecdotal evidence suggests you need to be spending $50,000+ with American per year to even be considered for an invite. Concierge Key comes with LOTS of perks. Here’s the highlights.

Flagship Check-in

American offers Flagship Check-in services at Chicago (ORD), London (LHR), Los Angeles (LAX), Miami (MIA), and New York (JFK). The service provides flyers an exclusive check-in area, personalized assistance (like an agent taking you the the front of the line), and expedited security screening.

Dedicated Phone Line

Concierge Key Members have a dedicated phone line they can call for pretty much anything. This means no waiting on hold and competent agents. Call agents are even known to proactively book alternate flights if passengers are at risk of missing a connection.

Airplane Transfers

Members with a tight connection may receive tarmac transfers via a Cadillac.

Priority Boarding

First to board the plane.

Complimentary Lounge Access

Members receive a free membership to American’s Admiral Club lounge network and can also access American’s new Flagship lounges.

Priority Upgrades

All American elite members are eligible for complimentary upgrades. The order of upgrades is based on the traveler’s elite status, and Concierge Key members get first pick for available First Class seats.

Gifting Executive Platinum Status

American Airlines recently began emailing members about 2018 Concierge Key status and it looks like some customers are receiving a new perk. Select Concierge Key members (not all of them) can gift Executive Platinum status to one person for 2018. Executive Platinum is American’s highest elite status after Concierge Key, so this is a pretty fantastic perk.

While all these perks sound wonderful, it’s very difficult to get Concierge Key status. Casey Neistat, a YouTuber with 8 million+ followers who flies hundreds of thousands of miles a year, recently made this video about American Airlines not renewing his Concierge Key status. It’s amusing-
