First Look: United’s New Polaris Lounge in San Francisco
United opened its first Polaris lounge in Chicago in December 2016. Overall I think it’s a great lounge that competes well with its international peers. That said, United has been ridiculously slow when it comes to opening subsequent lounges. United’s second Polaris lounge is scheduled to open in San Francisco on April 30, 2018.
United just shared its first details on the new location. The lounge is located in the international terminal near Gate G92. It’s a huge 28,000 square foot space spread across two floors. Travelers will find 440 seats, 19 different types of seating, 492 power outlets, 492 USB ports, 5 private daybeds outfitted with Saks Fifth Avenue bedding, 8 shower suites featuring rainfall showers, and a personal valet service.
There’s two food options available. First, there’s a sit down “Dining Room.” This is a restaurant style dining area with a menu you order from. Food options include Chinese congee breakfast, hand cut pappardelle pasta, a United burger, etc. The second dinging area is a buffet with options like a ramen bar in the afternoon and California inspired cuisine.
I really enjoyed the Polaris lounge in Chicago and am genuinely excited to try the new lounge in San Francisco. What are your thoughts?
