JetBlue and United Increase Checked Bag Fees

JetBlue became the first US airline to raise checked bag fees earlier this week. First checked bags increased from $25 to $30 and second checked bags increased from $35 to $40. It was only a matter of time before other airlines followed suit and it’s already started to happen.



United airlines is matching JetBlue’s bag prices for flights booked starting August 31, 2018 (today) within the US, Puerto Rice, Virgin Islands, Caribbean, and Central America. Second bags for flights between the US and Canada are increasing to $50. Let’s see how fast Delta and American jump on the bandwagon.


Passengers with United elite status or a United credit card continue to receive at least one free check bag.
