Marriott’s Unified Loyalty Program has 45 Airline Transfer Partners!
Marriott recently announced a massive overhaul of the Marriott Rewards, Ritz-Carlton Rewards, and Starwood Preferred Guest loyalty programs. They’re being merged into one unified program on August 1, 2018. There will be one booking platform, one award chart, five elite statutes, and two new credit cards.
Both Marriott and SPG have allowed members to transfer points to airlines, but at wildly different ratios. Marriott is combining its existing transfer partners with Starwood’s for a total of 45 airline transfer partners. That’s an insane number of options to transfer points to. Here’s a list of the partners:
Points can be transferred from Marriott to all the above airlines, except for JetBlue, Air New Zealand, and El Al, at a ratio of 3:1. You’ll get 15,000 bonus miles for every 60,000 points you transfer. Marriott still has not released the transfer rations for JetBlue, Air New Zealand, and El Al.
I’m very impressed with the new airline transfer program. We now have 45 airlines to choose from and the transfer ratios remain compelling. I’m somewhat surprised that Marriott chose to keep the bonus when transferring 60,000 points at a time, since they could have likely gotten away with axing that benefit. Overall, great job Marriott. I’m thrilled we’re not seeing any major devaluations.
