Match Your United and Marriott Accounts for Reciprocal Benefits

Article By:

United and Marriott have a partnership called RewardsPlus which rewards elite members of both programs with reciprocal benefits. United elite members can match to Marriott here while Marriott elite members can match to United here. The biggest perk they offer is status matching.

  • Marriott Platinum members will be matched to United Premier Silver Status
  • Marriott Platinum Premier members will be matched to United Premier Gold Status
  • United Premier Gold, Platinum, and 1K members will be matched to Marriott Gold Status
  • United Global Services members will be matched to Marriott Platinum Status

Marriott Platinum is the standard top-tier status level offered to everyone who stays 75+ nights per year at Marriott properties. Marriott Platinum Premier is an invitation-only status only offered to Marriott’s biggest spenders and individuals who have special ties with the company. You can match from Marriott Platinum Premier to United Gold here and you can match from United Global Services to Marriott Platinum here.

In addition to status matching, reciprocal elite members can transfer points between Marriott and United at a more favorable rate. All United Premier members (Silver all the way through Global Services) can transfer 50,000 United miles to Marriott at a 1:1 ratio each calendar year.

Travelers with no elite status in either program can still enjoy a couple benefits by linking their reward programs. You’ll save 20% when you transfer Marriott points to United MileagePlus and you’ll save 10% when you transfer United miles to Marriott Rewards for a travel package.

The finally cherry on top is that you can match your Marriott status to Starwood since the two companies merger earlier this year. This effectively means you can match from United to Marriott to Starwood!
