American Express Centurion Lounge is Coming to New York JFK
As I’ve mentioned in the past, American Express Centurion Lounges are often far superior to legacy US airline lounges and Priority Pass lounges. Customers with the Platinum Card from American Express or the Business Platinum Card from American Express receive complimentary entry to these locations. The bank currently operates lounges in San Francisco, Seattle, Las Vegas, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Philadelphia, New York (LGA), and Hong Kong. American Express is bringing its largest Centurion Lounge ever to New York (JFK) next.
The new 15,000 square foot lounge, located in Terminal 4, is expected to open in early 2019. It’ll offer benefits like hot food, complimentary cocktails, showers, and free Wi-Fi. American also said it will have “new special features” but didn’t elaborate. It makes sense to put the new lounge in Terminal 4 as it’s JFK’s busiest terminal and serves 21 million passengers annually.
American executive Josh McKay cited increased foot traffic as the reason for picking JFK. He said, “New York City is the number one destination and origin for our Platinum Card Members’ air bookings with Amex Travel, and we’ve actually seen a 29% increase in air travel through NYC amongst these Card Members in the past year.”
