Article By:

Savy travelers often use Alaska Airlines’ frequent flyer program to book partner Business and First class award tickets. That’s because Alaska partners and lets you book awards on tons of great airlines and offers some of the lowest redemption rates in the industry. For example, you can book international Cathay Pacific First Class or Japan airlines First Class flights for just 70,000 Alaska miles. They charge very reasonable rates for domestic US awards as well.

Alaska Mileage Plan is currently offering up to a 40% bonus on purchased Alaska miles. This can be a great way to buy miles cheaply and redeem them for expensive tickets. The bonus is available now through April 9, 2018 so there’s no rush to jump in. The bonus is applied in the following tiers:

  • Purchase 10,000-19,000 miles and receive a 20% bonus
  • Purchase 20,000-39,000 miles and receive a 30% bonus
  • Purchase 40,000-60,000 miles and receive a 40% bonus

You cost per mile drops to 2.11 cents each if you max out the sale and purchase over 40,000 miles. While Alaska is imposing a cap of 60,000 miles per transaction, the airline has no annual cap on the number of miles you can purchase. This means you can buy as many bundles of 60,000 miles you want.
