Singapore airlines offers one of the most luxurious first class cabins in the sky with its suite class product on the A380. Along with discussing how to book this amazing award with miles, let’s dive into Singapore Airline’s program and talk about some of the best redemption options for its miles.

  2. Chase Ultimate Rewards transfer partner
  3. American Express Membership Rewards transfer partner
  4. Starwood Preferred Guest transfer partner
  5. Citi Thank You transfer partner

Redeeming Miles on Singapore Airlines/Silkair

  • Award Chart: Singapore Air Award Chart
  • Award flights operated on Singapore Airlines or SilkAir can be booked online or by phone. However, if you book online you’ll receive a 15% discount on the miles you need for the award-so always book these awards online!
  • Moderate fuel charges imposed typically between $100-$300
  • Singapore Airlines releases many more award seats to members of its rewards program than to its Star Alliance partners. More importantly, it doesn’t release any award seats in Suites class to its partners. So if you want to fly in a suite for free, you’re going to have to use KrisFlyer.
  • You can put yourself on a waitlist for an award seat if there isn’t one available. If a seat opens up, you get an email giving you a 24 hour window to book the award ticket if you still want it. The process for getting on the waitlist is pretty simple. You just look up an award as you normally would, and the website will give you an option to waitlist where it otherwise would let you just book the ticket. One important caveat is that you need to have the miles necessary for the award you’re waitlisting in your account at the time of waitlisting-but remember, even if you are offered a seat on your flight, you aren’t required to book. Many waitlists seem to clear around two weeks before travel, but take this with a grain of salt as there are always outliers clearing way in advance of travel and also just a couple days before departure day.
  • One free stopover permitted on a roundtrip award. However, you can add additional stopovers on one-way awards and roundtrip awards for $100 by calling the airline.

Redeeming Miles on Star Alliance Partners

  • Award Chart: Star Alliance Award Chart
  • Moderate fuel charges imposed typically between $100-$300
  • Use com to search for Star Alliance award seats as you can’t do this on Singapore’s website. Once you find an award you want, call Singapore to book your ticket!

Redeeming Miles on Virgin Atlantic, Virgin America, Virgin Australia, Vistara Airlines

Final Word: Krisflyer miles can be a great way to book domestic awards for a great value. 20,000 miles for a roundtrip economy ticket and 40,000 for roundtrip business is less than what partner United would charge. That said, I’d save up and use these miles for an amazing flight on Singapore’s Suites Class. Paying just 57,375 miles to fly in a suite from JFK-FRA is an insane deal! But to get the best value, I’d wait to redeem 74,437 miles to fly from LAX to Tokyo because it’s a longer flight. When you’re in a premium first class cabin like Singapore’s Suites Class, it’s hard to leave and you want to maximize the time you’ve earned with those hard won miles.
