Starwood Business AMEX Offering 35,000 Points for a Limited Time

Article By:

American Express had increased the sign-up bonus for both its Personal and Business Starwood Preferred Guest credit cards from 25,000 SPG points to 35,000 SPG points for a limited time back in February. This was the largest bonus we’ve seen on these cards. American Express just increased the sign-up bonus for its Starwood Preferred Guest Business Card to 35,000 again for a limited time.

The elevated 35,0000 Starpoints offer is valid for card applications between now and November 1, 2017. Cardholders will earn 25,000 Starpoints after spending $6,000 in the first 3 months, and an additional 10,000 Starpoints after making an additional $4,000 in purchases within the first 6 months. American Express offers sign-up bonuses once in a lifetime. So if you’ve previously had this card and canceled it, you aren’t eligible for the offer. Here are the card’s standard perks:

  • $0 annual fee for the first year, then $95
  • Earn 2X Starpoints per $1 spent at Starwood and Marriott hotels
  • Earn 1X Starpoint per $1 on everything else
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Complimentary, unlimited Boingo Wi-Fi on up to four devices
  • Complimentary access to Sheraton Club lounges
  • Earn an annual credit for 5 nights and 2 stays towards SPG Elite status

SPG points are extremely valuable and much harder to come by than other rewards currencies. You can use them to book stays at Starwood hotels, you can transfer them to Marriott at a 1:3 ratio, and you can transfer them to over 30 airlines partners and receive a 25% bonus for doing so. Here’s just some examples of what you can do with SPG points. If you can swing the $10,000 spending threshold to earn the full 35,000, this is definitely worthwhile.
