Turkish Airlines Issuing Refunds After Turkey Suspends Visas Services
Earlier today, news broke that the United States and Turkey suspended non-immigrant visas following a diplomatic spat. This means Americans can’t obtain a visa for travel to Turkey at Turkish embassies in the United States, online, or at Turkish airports. Turkish Airlines just put out a press release clarifying the impact on travelers.
Passengers transiting through Istanbul will be unaffected by the visa suspension. You can still connect through Istanbul to your final destination, you just can’t leave the airport and enter Turkey without a visa. Turkish Airlines is also giving three options to passengers with Turkish passports flying to the USA and passengers with American passports flying to Turkey on AnadoluJet and Turkish Airlines. These options are available to passengers who booked tickets before October 9, 2017 for travel between October 9-October 31, 2017.
- Passengers can change their reservations free of charge.
- Passengers can request a ticket refund.
- Passengers can extend the validity of tickets past October 31, 2017 without paying any price difference or penalty.
