Two Chinese Airlines are Allowing In-Flight Phone Use
China has an ancient policy when in comes to in-flight cell phone use. Passengers flying Chinese airlines are required to turn off their phones during the flight. If flight attendants see you using your phone, they actually make a big fuss about it. China’s Civil Aviation Administration issued new rules in September 2017 allowing individual airlines to decide for themselves whether to allow passengers to use cell phones.
The first two Chinese airlines have just announced that passengers can finally use personal electronic devices in flight, as long as the devices remain in airplane mode. China Eastern and Hainan airlines are the bold carriers joining the 21st century with this new policy. I imagine other Chinese airlines will follow their lead. The passengers pictured above look so happy with their phones!
