Union Strike Forces Lufthansa to Cancel 800 Flights
Lufthansa was forced to preemptively cancel over 800 flights scheduled for April 10, 2018. Ground and support services, as well as part of the airport fire brigade working at Frankfurt, Munich, Cologne, and Bremen are striking between 5:00 AM-6:00 PM on Tuesday.
Most of the cancellations are for intra-Europe flights, but 58 long-haul flights are affected as well. Lufthansa expects the strike to impact 90,000 passengers. Be sure to check your reservation online or call to check your flight status before heading to the airport if you’re scheduled to fly Lufthansa on Tuesday.
All customers with tickets on Lufthansa, Eurowings, Austrian Airlines, or Brussels Airlines who booked a flight from or via Frankfurt or Munich (even customers with flights which weren’t cancelled) for April 10 can rebook their flight for free to another flight within the next seven days.
