United Launching Nonstop Flights to Tahiti in October 2018

Article By:

Tahiti is an extremely popular getaway destination in the Pacific Ocean for good reason. What’s not to love about overwater bungalows, tropical weather, crystal clear water, and Polynesian culture. The only downside is actually getting there. Only Air France and Air Tahiti currently operate direct flights from the US to Tahiti, making miles and points redemptions particularly challenging for travel to the island. That will soon change as United is launching direct flights from San Francisco (SFO)-  Papete (PPT).

United will operate nonstop service 3X per week with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner from October 30, 2018-March 28, 2019. The schedule is as follows:

  • UA115 from SFO-PPT departing at 2:45 PM arriving at 9:25 PM
  • US114 from PPT-SFO departing at 11:45 PM arriving at 9:50 AM (next day)

Tickets are already on sale online. One way flights start at 35,000 for Economy and 70,000 miles for Business Class. However, it looks like United is only releasing higher level award availability at the moment so I’d wait till they drop award prices before booking.
