Virgin Atlantic Splits Economy into Three Tiers
Virgin Atlantic is splitting its Economy Class into three fares starting this Spring. Customers can choose between Economy Light (Basic Economy), Economy Classic (Regular Economy), and Economy Delight (Extra Legroom Economy). Here’s how Virgin breaks it down:
Economy Light offers a 31” seat pitch, seats are assigned at check-in, checked bags are not included, and refunds/changes are not permitted.
Economy Classic is your traditional Economy experience. Customers get the same 31” seat pitch, they can select seats ahead of time, a checked back is included, and they can pay a fee to refund or change tickets.
Economy Delight offers a 34” inch seat pitch (an extra 3 inches), advanced seat selection, a checked bag, priority check-in/boarding, and the ability refund/change your tickets with a fee.
All Economy passengers continue to receive complimentary meals, drinks, in flight entertainment, a blanket, pillow, and headphones. On the bright side, Economy Light doesn’t appear quite as restrictive as Basic Economy on other airlines.
