Week in Review: July 1, 2018

Article By:

As I first wrote last week, I’ll be writing a weekly blog post concerning a summary of three topics-the main stories in the miles & points world, highlights of new reviews we’ve published, and a travel update on what I’m up to. So here we go!

American Express made its Platinum Card more valuable this week by introducing an annual $100 Saks Fifth Avenue credit. Registration is now live.

Marriott finally announced its combined Starwood, Ritz-Carlton, and Marriott award chart. The updated award pricing will go into effect in August 2018. Marriott’s new highest tier category 8 hotels will retain category 7 pricing until early 2019. This presents terrific opportunities between August 2018-January 2019 to book some of the best brands in the world at a discount. For example, you’ll be able to book the St. Regis Maldives or Bora Bora for just 48,000 Marriott points per night!

I published a review of the W Verbier in Switzerland which ended up earning a 9/10. This was a terrific resort which I highly recommend you checkout if you’re visiting the Swiss alps! I also wrote an article explaining how I spent my six days in Verbier-lots of hiking, running, paragliding, and taking photos!

What I’m Up To

I spent the first half of the week finishing up a trip the Seychelles in Africa. I ended my time in the Seychelles on Praslin island. I have to see waking up to this view was incredible.

I’m writing this article from Venice, Italy this afternoon. I’ve spent a few days here and the city is wonderful. At this point I think I’ve seen everything Venice has to offer but I have another day before my flight out. I’m looking forward to sharing my Venice photography with you all on Instagram!
