WOW Air Launching $99 Flights from Four Midwest Cities to Europe
WOW Air has been aggressively expanding its market reach into the US this year. It started by offering $99 flights from the Eastern US to Iceland. Now it’s bringing its rock bottom fares to the Midwestern United States. WOW is launching the following four routes this Spring, with tickets going on sale today:
- Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW)-Iceland (KEF) beginning April 26, 2018
- Cleveland Hopkins International (CLE)- Iceland (KEF) beginning May 4, 2018
- Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International (CVG)- Iceland (KEF) beginning May 10, 2018
- Louis Lambert International (STL)- Iceland (KEF) beginning May 17, 2018
Flights from those four cities to Iceland start at $99 one-way, with flights to other European cities starting at $149. WOW will operate four flights a week from its newest US cities. Keep in mind that this is a ‘budget airline’, so everything besides your seat will cost extra. For example, food, luggage, carry-ons, seat assignments etc. are all sold separately. Still, $99 to Iceland and $149 to Europe is CHEAP.
WOW Air CEO Skúli Mogensen said he believes such low fares will stimulate new demand for travel to Europe. There’s a good chance he’s right, as US tourism to Europe has increased exponentially this year as airlines continue to reduce transatlantic fares. With the new expansion, WOW Air will soon be flying to 12 cities across the United States and connecting passengers to dozens of European cities.
